104-year-old Kansas veteran returns from a journey with Kansas Honor Flight

On Wednesday, a 104-year-old veteran from Kansas, who served in World War II, returned from a memorable trip to Washington D.C. with the Kansas Honor Flight.

Andrew Meyerle, a veteran, made history as the most senior person to have ever taken the Kansas Honor Flight. After a successful trip, the flight arrived back at Eisenhower Airport.

Meyerle expressed his gratitude for being more physically active than some younger individuals, stating, “I’ll tell you one thing, I’m much more active physically than some of these poor boys that are much younger than me.”

During World War II, Meyerle served as an Army Air Corps Sergeant. He was afforded the opportunity to visit both the World War II memorial and the Arlington National Cemetery, an experience he holds close to his heart.

Upon returning home, Meyerle expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he received.

Meyerle expressed his overwhelming gratitude upon his return, stating that he was “far beyond amazed” and had not anticipated such a warm welcome. Speaking on behalf of everyone who had been on the trip, he expressed his deep appreciation for the people of Kansas.
