As discussed in last weeks edition, releases were capped by an array of sounds suitable for any listener, each album exceeding expectations and pleasing fans across the board. Metro Boomin and 21 Savage’s collaborative tape ‘Savage Mode 2’ took number one on the Billboard charts moving 195,000 units, followed by the Korean based Blackpink, with 125,000 sales, including features from Cardi B and Selena Gomez. Expected tonight are featured drops from Top Dawg Entertainment and Carson, California’s very own, Reason. Coming with his second studio album ‘New Beginnings’, and boasting features from the likes of label mates Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Isaiah Rashad, Reason (Robert Lee Gill, Jr.) received co-signs from fellow California native Kendrick Lamar and came onto the scene in 2018 with his standout debut ‘There You Have It’. R&B phenom Trey Songz also continued plans to release his 8th studio album ‘Back Home’ the type of “songs that makes you love, the ones that make cry and the ones that make you smile, laugh and dance.” Songz also landed big features with notable stars such as industry talent Ty Dolla $ign, Atlanta native Summer Walker, and Rae Sremmurd member Swae Lee.

This weeks artist to watch is R&B singer Kyle Dion, born in Connecticut and now based in L.A. Dion stands out with one of the genres most moving falsettos, and a voice that anyone can appreciate. Drawing influence from icons such as a Michael Jackson, Prince, and Whitney Houston, their sounds are riddled throughout, bringing his newfound fluidity into a new era of music. Beginning at the age of 9 and now working his way towards collaborations with artists such as DUCKWRTH and UMI, Dion has steadily climbed his way to stardom. For fans of artists such as Mahalia, SiR and Lucky Daye, Dion is the perfect addition to revitalize your catalog.
