Colorado Wildfires Continue to Grow

Colorado wildfires, recently dubbed the “East Troublesome Fire” have continued to spread throughout the state, now growing to encompass close to 19,000 acres being only 10% contained by firefighters and enforcement. Beginning on October 14th, the fires have steadily grown, fueled by gusts of wind reported up to 50 mph and worsened by the dry air quality. The Colorado fire incident commander expressed the severity of the growth, with the fires spreading “faster than [they] can grow”, but CNN meteorologist Michael Guy brought a glimpse of hope. A southbound cold front hopes to bring some of the coldest temperatures this year, and with it, loads of snow. In this case the more snow the better, as many communities have already been forced to evacuate their homes in its midst.
