After a search that lasted several months, the Fayette County Board of Education has selected a new superintendent, Dr. Jonathan Patterson. “As a Georgia and metro-Atlanta native and lifelong resident, I have long been aware of Fayette’s reputation as a community of choice, where community members take care of one another. I also know that the excellent reputation of Fayette County Public Schools stems directly from that foundation of an engaged and supportive community. My family and I are truly excited to become a part of the legacy,” stated Dr. Patterson.

Dr. Patterson has 25 years of experience in education, most recently employed by Gwinnett County Schools as the Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. He began his career as a high school teacher of biology, chemistry, and physics. He has also served as a principal for both Middle and High Schools. We are looking forward to having Dr. Patterson as the leader of this amazing school system. Welcome, Dr. Patterson.
