The importance of doing your own political research

The importance of doing your own political research

Logan Calder, Writer

Today America has to many people that follow along the political line they have been told to follow and don’t do any research for who they are voting for. For example this year there was a article was made on a pew research experiment were they figured out half of Americans don’t even know what there party stands for and instead go with what social media or there friends have told them is the right choice. While the people of america are very passionate about their political party multiple research papers show most have little to no idea what there candidate actually wants or stands for, this has lead to large amount of people going to vote and barely knowing what any of the information on laws or candidates. If the American people continue doing this they may vote for someone who could run the country into the ground or cause a war we don’t want to be in, which is why it’s so important to research your party’s ideals, morals, and plans for the future. This year has one of the most insane turnouts of voters and has caused a lot of tension between the two parties because of different views so if we do some research we may be able to see how are both just normal people that believe different things, and how there is no need to be hostile or aggressive towards the opposite party because we’re all Americans.
