Christmas Crisis

Given the unpredictable nature of this year, it is no surprise that another, rather unexpected problem has arisen. With the upcoming joys of Christmas just weeks away, retailers and manufacturers have found themselves unexpectedly behind in product. Amongst the outbreak of the pandemic and a shortage of overall income and public outing, demand was projected far lower than any other year, but this couldn’t be more far from the truth. Stores such as Target and Walmart found themselves in dwindling supply with blank shelves becoming the new normal. At some locations, retailers even began selling display items in order to make up for the lack of availability. Adding another notch on 2020’s belt, this was surely a dilemma that no one saw coming.
