A scuffle broke out between a police officer and a suspected shoplifter at a Walmart store in Colorado Springs. The incident resulted in injuries to both parties involved.
According to authorities, the officer was on duty at the Platte Walmart during his off-hours when he noticed the culprit attempting to steal merchandise. Upon trying to apprehend the thief, the suspect resisted, resulting in a scuffle that left the officer with minor injuries. The suspect, on the other hand, suffered a broken collarbone and was subsequently taken into police custody. As of Tuesday morning, the suspect remains incarcerated in the county jail.
The suspect in the recent incident has been identified by the police as Austin Ferrelli. According to the authorities, Ferrelli was already wanted on a separate felony warrant before he allegedly committed the crime on Monday.
After sustaining injuries, the officer received medical treatment at the hospital and has now been discharged.
