Tim Scott Urges Voters to Support Trump Because He’s Willing to ‘Lay Down’ for Them

On Friday, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) made an intriguing appeal to Americans in defense of the convicted felon, former President Donald Trump. It’s worth noting that Senator Scott has a history of showing support for Trump.

In an interview with Fox News, the senator from South Carolina emphasized the importance of having a president who is willing to stand up for the American people. He expressed his belief that Donald Trump is the right person for the job, stating, “We need a president who is willing to lay down on behalf of the American people, and Donald Trump is that person.”

In his opening statement, Scott criticized the legitimacy of Trump’s conviction in New York, stating that President Joe Biden, who does not have authority over state courts, utilized the justice system as a tool against Trump.

Scott recorded an awkward selfie-video following Trump’s conviction on May 30, where he referred to it as a “hoax” and a “sham.” He further reiterated his belief that the justice system was “weaponized” against Trump.

Earlier this week, Trump’s campaign shared VP “vetting” paperwork with nine prominent Republicans, including Scott, who is considered a strong contender. The list featured names such as Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), Dr. Ben Carson, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY).
