An Indiana childcare provider was arrested on Friday evening by the Indiana State Police following an investigation into an injured eight-month-old child.
On May 30, an investigation was initiated, which led to the arrest of Lauren Salyers.
At Norton Children’s Hospital, Detective Travis Baker of ISP met with the parents of the child. The mother informed him that she had taken the child to Scott Memorial Hospital in Indiana after noticing a wound on the back of their head when she picked them up from the caregiver, Salyers. The baby was then airlifted to Norton’s for treatment of a skill fracture and fractured left arm.
Upon conducting an investigation, Baker discovered that Salyers was operating an unlicensed and private daycare out of her residence located in Austin, Indiana.
Salyers currently remains in custody at the Scott County Jail, facing two severe felony charges, which include battery and neglect of a dependent.
