While casually browsing eBay, Joan Eccles stumbled upon a vintage piece of jewelry that she recognized as a precious charm that had belonged to her mother years ago. Without hesitation, she knew that this was the missing memento she had been searching for. Thanks to her habit of surfing the web, Joan was able to reunite with a one-of-a-kind charm that now rests where it belongs – with her.
KSL News reports that the charm that the elderly woman found on eBay has a romantic backstory. The heart-shaped pendants with personalized inscriptions were sent by Joan’s stepfather to her and her mother on Valentine’s Day in 1944 while he was serving in the military. According to UPI, Joan’s pendant was inscribed with “New Guinea, To My Darling Joan, 1944,” while her mother’s pendant read “New Guinea, To My Darling Wife, 1944.”
By chance, Joan was able to find the missing charm on eBay.
On Mother’s Day, Joan’s daughters, Vikki Fredrickson and Staci Wilson, gave her a heartwarming surprise. They had bought a charm from eBay that was exclusively for their mother. Joan was overjoyed to receive it and plans to keep it in a display case along with her matching pendant. KSL News reported this heartwarming incident.
According to Staci, the charm had landed in the hands of a California-based eBay seller. The woman had chanced upon the item at a flea market and added it to her collection of odds and ends. Apparently, someone was selling off their belongings, and the pendant happened to be one of them.
