Mother’s World War II Keepsake Surprises Daughter Found on eBay

As she was perusing eBay, a Utah woman named Joan Eccles stumbled upon a precious charm that had once belonged to her mother years before. Thanks to her habit of surfing the web, Joan has been reunited with an incredible memento that she thought was lost forever. She came across a piece of vintage jewelry that she was convinced had gone missing decades ago. This one-of-a-kind charm has now been returned to its rightful owner and is back where it belongs.

As per a report by KSL News, the charm that the elderly woman stumbled upon on eBay has a romantic tale behind it. It dates back to 1944 when Joan’s stepfather sent her and her mother matching gifts on Valentine’s Day while he was serving in the military. The gifts were two heart-shaped pendants with customized inscriptions on them. The inscription on Joan’s pendant, as reported by UPI, read, “New Guinea, To My Darling Joan, 1944,” while the one on her mother’s pendant read, “New Guinea, To My Darling Wife, 1944.”

By chance, Joan was able to find the missing charm on eBay.

Joan has always cherished a beautiful pendant that belonged to her, but unfortunately, her mother’s pendant was lost after her death in 1963. However, Joan’s hope was reignited when she stumbled upon a charm on eBay that had the exact same inscription as her mother’s pendant. As the item was personalized, Joan was convinced that she had found the missing memento.

On Mother’s Day, Joan’s daughters, Vikki Fredrickson and Staci Wilson, gave her a delightful surprise. They had bought a charm from eBay, exclusively for her! Joan, who is of old age, intends to keep it in a display case along with her own pendant that matches the charm, as reported by KSL News.

It’s incredible how things work out sometimes! We’re thrilled to hear that Joan was able to find her mother’s cherished charm through eBay and reunite with it.
