Trump’s lawyers notified by judge about Facebook post regarding conviction from a ‘cousin of a juror’

The judge presiding over former President Donald Trump’s hush money case was alerted to a comment left on the official Facebook page of the New York court. The comment revealed that the writer’s cousin was serving on the jury, causing concern for the judge.

It remains unclear from Merchan’s letter if the individual who left the comment was actually connected to a juror.

On Truth Social, Trump expressed his reaction to the outcome of the trial by posting “MISTRIAL!!!” on his account.

On May 30, a New York jury found Trump guilty of falsifying business records by disguising hush money payments to an adult film actress as legal costs prior to the 2016 election. The former president was convicted on 34 counts.

According to New York state legislation, committing the act of falsifying business records in the first degree is considered a Class E felony, which can result in a maximum sentence of four years imprisonment.

The sentencing for Merchan has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on July 11, which is just four days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. This convention is scheduled to take place from July 15-18, and it is widely expected that Trump will be chosen as the party’s nominee for president during this time.
