More Troopers Set to Hit Alabama's Roads and Waterways

Additional law enforcement officers will be patrolling Alabama’s highways and waterways to enhance public safety. On Friday morning in Selma, 25 new state troopers joined the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). This marks ALEA’s first class of new troopers to graduate in several years. Although all members of this class had prior law enforcement experience, they still completed ten weeks of additional training.

Sgt. Jeremy Burkett stated, “We want to make sure when we have arresting officers that are with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, they’re fully trained and fully prepared.”

Out of the 25 new troopers, 22 will patrol Alabama roadways with the Highway Patrol, while the remaining three will patrol state waterways with the Marine Patrol.
