Wanna Talk About it?

Leanna Willett

Podcasts are becoming more and more popular to young people today. Our generation tends to always want something playing in the background while taking care of daily tasks, however music can get repetitive.

Senior, Anthony Vanheyningen:

“When I find myself listening to music it can get boring because when I’m busy I want to listen to something that’s longer, so now I go to podcasts instead.”

From self help to crime related content you can find just about anything on Spotify or Apple Podcasts. A very popular podcast that has been nominated for the People’s Choice Award is ‘Anything Goes’ with Emma Chamberlain. She has been entertaining and getting closer with her media audience on ‘Anything Goes’ for almost two years now. It is an open topic podcast, where Emma discusses anything from self discovery to advice on just about everything.

After interviewing students I found that the majority of them enjoy true crime podcasts, because they find them captivating and overall very interesting. A popular suggestion given was ‘Unraveled’ hosted by Journalists Billy Jensen and Alexis Linkletter. Additionally, ‘Imagined Life,’ ‘American scandal,’ and ‘Over My Dead Body’ are all student-recommended podcasts done by Wondery.
