It’s softball season! Whitewater’s JV and Varsity softball teams are back in action. From practicing every day to having 2-3 games a week, the softball players have been working hard so they can ensure they make it to state. Both the Varsity and JV team had their first home game this week both pulled through with the win. Varsity won with an astonishing 6 – 0 score! Although the team practices after school every day, some people begin to wonder how the softball players seem to get better every year, what keeps them going all through summer? So we asked Makayla Coffield, Varsity’s star pitcher, what kept her busy during the summer, and what her plans for softball were even after high school. Her response was, “I play on a competitive travel ball team so I spent all summer traveling the country playing, and this helped me prepare for what is going to be a long season for us. I have committed to play softball at Georgia Tech following high school, and I am very excited to represent Whitewater as a Yellow Jacket for the next four years!”. It seems that Makayla has the spirit to win, and so does her team. Will they make it to state? Only time will tell!
