FASFA

Dear Seniors,

The 2022-2023 FAFSA form is now open. The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid which is used to determine your eligibility for financial aid programs at the schools you apply to. While you may think you don’t need to fill out the form, whether you have scholarships lined up or plan to pay out of pocket, you should still fill out your FAFSA.

The FAFSA should be incredibly important to anyone planning on attending college. The form itself typically takes about an hour to fill out and is a gateway to billions of dollars in grants, work-study funds, federal student loans, and state-based aids. Within 3-5 days of submitting your form, you will receive your Student Aid Report detailing your eligibility for scholarships and financial aid packages.

No matter how much your household makes annually, you should still fill out your FAFSA. You never know what you will end up qualifying for. The Department of Education does not have an official income cutoff so fill out your forms regardless of your household income. And don’t worry about upcoming due dates. The 2022-2023 FAFSA form is not due until June 30, 2023, giving everyone plenty of time to get working on the forms.

So seniors, get working on your FAFSA forms, and don’t forget about your college applications! We’re getting closer and closer to graduation, day by day. Go Cats!
