A man’s body was discovered in Patoka Lake on Sunday night, and Indiana Conservation Officers are now conducting an investigation.
In a news release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), it was said that Orange County Dispatch received a report at approximately six o’clock p.m. regarding the disappearance of a male in the vicinity of the Painter Creek boat launch.
Using sonar, DNR Division of Law Enforcement divers located the body at approximately 8:15 p.m. His identity is being kept a secret by the authorities until his family is informed.
The U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, IU Health Paoli, Indiana State Police, Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and Orange County Rural Fire District 1 were among the other agencies that provided assistance.
The public was cautioned by Indiana conservation officers to always wear a life jacket when near or on the water.
