Teen arrested for allegedly shooting, killing ex-girlfriends mother in Homestead

Police have arrested and charged a 16-year-old male with first-degree murder following the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend’s mother in Homestead, Florida.

At around 7:40 p.m., the Homestead Police Department and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue received a call about a woman who had been shot in the eye. The officers promptly responded to the incident.

According to reports, the neighbor of the victim initially went back inside her house for safety but later came out to find the victim lying unconscious on the porch, with her baby daughter unharmed under her.

According to reports, Shinhoster escaped on foot from the incident site and eventually got into a white SUV at the intersection of Northwest 11th Street and Northwest 6th Avenue before driving away.

The police have stated that they analyzed surveillance footage which revealed Shinhoster’s approach towards the residence and his immediate escape after the shooting. Witnesses and the victim’s daughter later provided positive identification of Shinhoster.

Authorities have charged Shinhoster after conducting a search of his residence and taking him into custody.

At present, the Juvenile Services Department is holding him in custody.
