Over 100 shots fired, killed a 24-year-old man in Miami gunfight

Over 100 rounds killed a 24-year-old man in Miami gunfight

One man was killed and another was gravely injured during a fierce gunfight in Miami on Monday, and Miami Police are looking into the incident.

Just before 7 p.m., police from Miami’s Little Haiti area arrived to a scene at NW 51st Street and 2nd Avenue, where they discovered two individuals who had been shot. Miami Fire Rescue took them to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where one of them passed away, according to the authorities.

On Tuesday, Miami Police PIO Michael Vega gave NBC6 an update on the case and named the deceased as Andre Mitchell, 24.

“We know that these two victims were inside their vehicle when another two vehicles drove by, they started shooting at each other,” said Vega.

Numerous evidence markers were lining the street, and Half Moon Empanadas received several rounds of fire.

“Over 100 shots were fired at each other and any of these stray bullets could have hit a person inside their house or even any of the kids that were playing in the park across the street,” Vega stated.

Authorities added that there may be a connection to another fatal shooting that occurred on Monday at 2:00 p.m.

“We’re looking into the possibility that this incident has gang affiliations. We think that these are competing gangs and that there is an ongoing conflict between them where they are attempting to kill each other, based on this and the earlier incident yesterday,” Vega stated.

Police stated that the gunmen are still at large but did not offer a description of the suspect. If you know anything, please get in touch with Crime Stoppers.
