Two Arrested Following Chase Near LaPorte-Porter County Line

Two individuals were arrested following a pursuit near the LaPorte-Porter County line.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, Trooper Nicholas Isajczuk was on patrol along I-94 near the Porter/LaPorte County boundary when he noticed a gray Toyota SUV speeding without any headlights or tail lights. Despite the vehicle reaching speeds exceeding 110 mph, Trooper Isajczuk was able to catch up when the SUV merged onto the shoulder to overtake another vehicle.

The pursuit persisted as they exited the interstate and made their way onto U.S. 421, heading towards Michigan City, and eventually turning back west on U.S. 20. The chase eventually came to a halt in front of the Pilot Truck Stop located in Porter, IN.

Following a chemical test, the driver, Mohamed A. Ahamed Ahrar, 26, from Mechanicsburg, PA, was taken into custody for having a BAC of.09%. It was later discovered that his passenger, Joshua C. Reed, 32, from Chicago, IL, had pleaded with him to stop, but his pleas went unheard.

Authorities discovered Ketamine in Reed’s possession, resulting in his arrest and charge for possessing a controlled substance. He and his companion were subsequently taken to LaPorte County Jail.
