Inmate at Pennsylvania State Prison Killed by Cellmate

The Pennsylvania State Police verified on Tuesday night that a prisoner at the State Correctional Institution in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, had been slain by his cellmate. On July 2, 2024, the 57-year-old Philadelphia resident Kevin Beattie—also going by the names Kevin 

Shaquille Tyrin Gibson, 30, a York resident who shares a cell with Beattie, is suspected of killing him. At 8:16 a.m., emergency workers arrived and made every effort to save Beattie’s life, but he was declared dead. The official cause of death will be ascertained by the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office. Gibson is accused of killing someone in the first degree.

Beattie’s criminal history began in 1985 and included convictions for trespassing, theft, burglary, and criminal mischief in Philadelphia. His official birthdate was March 3, 1981; however, subsequent research and adjustments revealed that his true birthdate was March 22, 1967. The explanations behind his name changes are yet unknown.

Additionally, Gibson has a criminal past that dates back to 2013 and includes accusations of violence, drug offenses, driving while intoxicated, larceny, and burglary. An investigation into the incident’s homicide is being carried out by the Pennsylvania State Police.Williams and Bernard Grover—was discovered unconscious in his cell. Since February 3, 2023, he has been serving a 22–55 year sentence for burglary.
