Mother and Two Young Children Critically Injured in East Orange Apartment Stabbing

After suffering significant injuries in an East Orange apartment, a mother and her two little children were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, the victims were attacked inside a second-floor unit at the La Ferrera Apartments on Park Avenue.

With what seemed to be stabbing wounds, the three were sent to the University Hospital in Newark.

The victims are a woman and her two small children, ages one and three, according to neighbors who spoke with Eyewitness News. One of the children just had a birthday this week.

One person exclaimed, “I am in complete and utter shock… and my heart is breaking right now.” “It’s unbelievable. What are we even now? A mother and two kids? I have no idea what motivates people to act in such a way.”

The mother, who is in her twenties, has reportedly lived in this building her whole life.

After celebrating her birthday on Wednesday, neighbors said they had recently seen her and her kids, and everyone was in a festive mood.

The same resident continued, “I’ve been involved for 20 years, and nothing like that ever happened.” “Never. This is unlike anything I have ever seen.”

Nothing has been revealed about the possible cause of the stabbing. The East Orange Police Department is looking into the incident.
