LA 4th of July Chase Ends in Arrests: 5 Teens Captured After SUV Pursuit in Hawthorne

On July 4th, Los Angeles experienced three separate police chases that occurred within hours of each other. In one of these chases, a group of five teenagers abandoned their car and made a daring escape by jumping into an apartment through a window.

On Thursday, authorities arrested five teens who were accused of leading them on a police chase through Los Angeles County in a suspected stolen SUV.

Officials have reported that the pursuit initially began in the South Los Angeles area. The suspected driver, who was operating a silver Kia Soul that had been reported stolen, was sighted on surface streets before making their way onto the northbound 110 Freeway. The pursuit eventually led to the Santa Monica area, where the driver entered the 405 Freeway.

Pursuit suspects make a run for it in Hawthorne

In LA County, a group of individuals led police on a high-speed chase and eventually abandoned their suspected stolen car in Hawthorne before fleeing on foot.

Numerous patrol cars were following the vehicle.

Around 1 p.m. in the Hawthorne area, witnesses reported a Kia driver driving recklessly and running several red lights. The driver was observed entering a residential neighborhood.

The car chase finally came to a halt in the vicinity of W. 129th St. and Jefferson, where the car came to a stop. At this point, five suspects were observed exiting the vehicle and fleeing the scene. They proceeded to scale fences and eventually arrived at an apartment complex, where a few of them even resorted to jumping through windows.

Authorities in pursuit of Kia Soul

Authorities were pursuing a Kia Soul on the Fourth of July holiday.

Residents of the neighborhood surrounding the apartment complex witnessed a significant police presence as authorities engaged in a potential standoff with the suspects.

The authorities announced that they had detained a total of five teenagers in the late afternoon. At the moment, there is a lack of information on the matter.
