An Iowa middle school principal died after being rescued from Lake Michigan

According to KCCI Des Moines, the individual who tragically passed away on Tuesday after being rescued from Lake Michigan was a middle school principal from Iowa.

According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Mark Scholes, aged 44 and from Oskaloosa, encountered difficulties while swimming at Ludington State Park during a family vacation and a 911 call was made at around 1:49 p.m.

According to the police, multiple individuals attempted to rescue him by entering the water. Scholes was eventually retrieved from beneath the surface and placed onto a raft. First responders administered CPR on the shore until they arrived.

According to the authorities, he was taken to a nearby medical facility where he was declared deceased at 2:50 p.m.
