Police arrest woman for hiding fentanyl inside stuffed animals

A 27-year-old woman from Sun Prairie, Brianna M. Reno, has been handed a seven-year prison sentence for her involvement in fentanyl trafficking. Reno was charged with conspiring to distribute and possess 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

On April 16, Reno pleaded guilty to the charge, and as a result, he will serve a prison term followed by five years of supervised release.

On January 26, 2023, law enforcement officials intercepted two packages in the Madison area from Arizona that they deemed suspicious. With a search warrant in hand, officers opened the packages, and to their surprise, they found stuffed animals inside each one. Upon further inspection, these stuffed animals were found to contain around 2.2 kilograms of fake prescription pills.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the pills seized amounted to over 40,000 and upon testing, it was found that they contained fentanyl.

Upon arranging for a controlled delivery of a single package, law enforcement officials successfully apprehended co-defendants Jontell C. Shepherd and Alexis K. Davis when they arrived at the designated delivery location to collect the package.

According to the government’s investigation, Reno was responsible for organizing the shipment of fentanyl pills from Arizona to Madison through co-defendant Keyshawna D. Draper.

The quartet of accused individuals have entered guilty pleas. Shepherd and Draper are set to be sentenced on July 23, while Davis’ sentencing will take place on July 25.
