Last week, the Wisconsin police apprehended a man who they suspect stabbed three individuals, including two children who unfortunately passed away due to their injuries.
After being hospitalized, Acosta was found inside a residence and subsequently taken into custody by officers. The Clark County Jail is where he was booked. Additionally, the victim sought medical attention for her injuries as well.
According to Just the News, Acosta was living in the United States without legal documentation during the time of the incident.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Department, who arrived at the scene alongside Abbotsford police, had previously cautioned locals about the high crime rate in the region. Just two days before the stabbing, the department took to Facebook to inform the public about a series of burglaries that had occurred recently.
Between 2018 and 2022, Clark County saw four homicides, the most recent data available. In an effort to address community safety concerns and provide support for victims of crime, Governor Tony Evers signed bills in March.
According to the governor, the state of Wisconsin is dedicated to curbing the cycle of violence, preventing crime, and ensuring the safety of our schools, streets, and communities.
He added that during the legislative session, there were significant increases in shared revenue for local communities to support public safety, and bipartisan laws were passed to combat reckless driving statewide. Additionally, efforts were made to support crime victims and survivors, all of which will contribute to the administration’s ongoing work in preventing violence and crime and making communities safer.
According to NBC News, Rep. Gwen Moore, a Democrat from Wisconsin, has voiced her disapproval of former President Donald Trump’s remarks about Milwaukee having crime issues. Trump had allegedly referred to Milwaukee as a “horrible city” while addressing House Republicans last month.
During an interview with MSNBC, Rep. Moore expressed her concern over the impending arrival of an individual with 34 felony counts to Milwaukee in July. She stated that this could result in a surge in the crime rate in the city.
