On Monday night, authorities caught a thief at the La Porte County Fair in Indiana.
At approximately 9:00 pm, the county sheriff’s deputies received a report about a potential theft at Community Building 1. The suspect, who was riding a motorized wheelchair, was followed by the officers.
Reports indicate that the woman was seen hiding a stuffed toy dog under her dress at a booth on the main concourse. When approached by officers, it was discovered that she had also stolen a key chain and two sterling silver rings from other booths. The total value of the stolen goods was estimated at around $136.
After realizing her mistake, the 39-year-old La Porte woman tearfully returned the items she had taken and personally apologized to each of the vendors. Fortunately, the vendors chose not to press charges against her. However, as a consequence of her actions, the woman was asked to leave the fairgrounds.
