A 17-year-old boy named Marquon Howard is facing criminal charges in connection with a shooting that took place outside a smoke shop near 39th and Capitol on July 4 in Milwaukee. As per reports, Howard has been accused of the crime.

The Milwaukee police received a report of a shooting outside a smoke shop near 39th and Capitol on Thursday, July 4th, according to the criminal complaint. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in a nearby driveway.
During the investigation, a detective visited Children’s Wisconsin and met with Marquon Howard, the defendant. At that point, it had not been established whether Howard was involved in the incident. According to the complaint, Howard claimed that he was walking in an alley with two individuals towards a smoke shop. As they approached the shop, they encountered a Jeep and its driver, who may have said something to them, although Howard did not hear what it was. Howard stated that the two individuals he was with proceeded towards the Jeep, and he followed. One of them fired at the driver, who returned fire. Howard claimed that he ran away, but realized he had been shot and took shelter on the grass in front of a house.
Afterwards, the detective proceeded to hold a Mirandized interview with Howard, during which he claimed that the third individual in their group was responsible for the shooting. Howard further explained that he was unable to hear the Jeep driver’s words due to his position as the first person inside the smoke shop. According to the complaint, Howard also made it clear that he was not foolish enough to shoot himself and that he did not even possess a firearm.
According to the complaint, the detective found out that Howard had been hit by one bullet while receiving treatment at Children’s Wisconsin. Through surveillance video and Howard’s pants found at the hospital, the detective concluded that Howard had most likely shot himself in the leg while placing the firearm seen in the video into his pants. It is worth noting that the pants recovered did not have any bullet marks, as stated by the detective in the complaint.
The criminal complaint reveals that the surveillance footage captures Howard’s companion leaving the smoke shop and then shooting at the Jeep. The complaint further states that Howard follows suit and fires a single shot at the black Jeep.
During a routine traffic stop in Brookfield, the driver of the Jeep was found to have a bullet strike on the front passenger side of the vehicle.
The Milwaukee shooting scene at 39th and Capitol has been a cause of concern for the authorities.
On July 9, Howard appeared in Milwaukee County court for the first time. The court set a signature bond of $3,000.
