Officials have confirmed that a man discovered unresponsive on a sidewalk in Albany Park early Tuesday was a victim of a fatal shooting.
Around 2:37 a.m., officers received reports of a person down and discovered a 59-year-old man from Evanston lying near a strip mall in the 3300 block of West Lawrence. Despite attempts by the Chicago Fire Department to save him, the man tragically passed away from his injuries shortly after being taken to Swedish Hospital.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that his cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and has ruled it as a homicide. This was determined on Wednesday.
Last week, a woman lost her life in a double shooting that took place just half a mile away from where the recent shooting occurred.
