Shooting on downtown Minneapolis' Nicollet Mall injures 4, shatters several windows

Late Wednesday night in downtown Minneapolis, a shooting on Nicollet Mall left several businesses damaged and four people hospitalized.

According to the police, several people dialed 911 to report a man assaulting a woman in the vicinity of Sixth Street South at approximately 11:15 p.m. Shots were fired shortly after the calls were made.

According to the police, gunshots were heard by officers a few blocks south of the mall. They immediately rushed to the scene and found numerous bullet casings scattered on the mall between Fifth and Seventh streets. The area’s windows, including the skyway above, were also damaged by the gunfire.

According to the police, a group of three individuals approached officers and a Hennepin County deputy near Seventh Street to report their injuries. The trio claimed to have been on Sixth Street at the time of the incident and heard a commotion before the shooting occurred.

According to the police, a woman who was wounded arrived at the hospital around two hours later and claimed that she was also shot in the vicinity of Seventh Street.

The investigation is currently ongoing according to the police. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the case.

Last week, a shooting occurred near Fifth Street and Hennepin Avenue, leaving three individuals injured. According to the police, the incident began with a fight that broke out around 2 a.m. Shots were fired, resulting in two men sustaining life-threatening injuries, and a woman suffering injuries that are expected to heal.
