The Brown County Sheriff’s Office recently shared a photo of a significant seizure of fentanyl and methamphetamine as a result of a large-scale investigation. The photo shows the illegal substances confiscated and serves as evidence of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking. It also highlights the dangers associated with these drugs and the need for continued vigilance in the fight against drug abuse.
According to officials in Brown County, WI, a “large-scale drug trafficking organization” has been dismantled and seven individuals have been arrested in connection to the operation.
Sheriff Todd Delain of Brown County reported that the Brown County Drug Task Force, in collaboration with numerous law enforcement agencies across Northeast Wisconsin, including the FBI and DEA, dedicated six months to the investigation.
According to Delain, the officials successfully pinpointed the drug organization’s pickup location, which happened to be a stash house in Chicago.
Earlier this month, law enforcement officials executed five search warrants in Brown County, resulting in the seizure of a significant amount of illegal substances. Simultaneously, a stash house in Chicago was searched, and authorities discovered 12 kilograms of fentanyl, four kilograms of cocaine, 748 grams of methamphetamine, 460 grams of heroin, 16 firearms, and a quantity of marijuana.
According to Delain, the investigation holds immense significance for the residents of Brown County and citizens of Northeast Wisconsin. He further added that in 2023, there were 60 cases of accidental and illicit drug overdose deaths in Brown County, out of which nearly 80% were associated with fentanyl.
During the interview, the topic of whether any of the deaths were connected to the organization was brought up to Delain.
He replied, “There is no doubt that this group was responsible for a part of it.”
Authorities have identified the individuals who were arrested as Cheri Austin, Felton Currie, Ebony Grandberry, James Grandberry, Michael Oliver, Kyla Sanache, and Jessica Wright. Although formal charges have yet to be filed, all of the suspects have already appeared in court and had high bonds set.
Sheriff Todd Delain stated that the drug trafficking organization was considered to be the primary supplier of fentanyl in Brown County.
According to Green Bay Police Chief Chris Davis, the nation is currently facing a widespread issue of illegal drug use, with a particular focus on fentanyl and methamphetamine. The recent seizure of a massive amount of fentanyl is a clear indicator of the severity of this problem, and serves as a reminder that all communities are dealing with this issue.
According to Delain, there are expected to be further arrests in the near future.
