The South Side of Chicago is mourning the loss of a loyal and polite Polish immigrant who was fatally shot on his way to work earlier this week.

On Sunday morning, an attempt to carjack occurred at a gas station located in the 5400 block of South Wells Street, which unfortunately led to a shooting.

According to the Chicago police, Michal Ciskal was fatally shot in the chest.

According to his friend, Ciskal had been eagerly getting ready for the arrival of his parents and 10-year-old brother to Chicago. It had been almost three years since he last saw them.
