Woman charged with violent CTA attack after being recognized by her mother in Chicago police bulletin.

A man was attacked and robbed on the Orange Line downtown on July 8, and Tamia Washington is one of the perpetrators involved in the incident. Surprisingly, her own mother recognized her and she turned herself in to the Chicago police. Tamia, who is 18 years old, is the first adult charged with the robbery, and the fifth person to be charged overall. The incident took place around 11 p.m. and resulted in serious consequences for the victim.

CPD recently released surveillance images of eight individuals suspected to be involved in the assault on Michael Manning, who was attacked while riding home from work. Since the public release of the photos, four individuals, including an 11-year-old girl and boys aged 14, 15, and 16, have been charged with the crime.

According to Manning, the problem started when a group of about ten young individuals got on his train at LaSalle and Van Buren, causing trouble almost immediately.

According to a report from the CPD, Washington’s mother took her daughter to the Central (1st) District police station in the South Loop to turn her in on Wednesday morning after recognizing her as one of the suspects from a police bulletin.

Judge Caroline Glennon-Goodman has ordered the detention of Washington, who is accused of robbing a victim over the age of 60, to await trial.
