On Monday, July 22, a Milwaukee County judge handed down a sentence to Marvin Thomas for his involvement in a hit-and-run crash on Brady Street in September 2023. Thomas will serve a two-year prison sentence and an additional three years of extended supervision. The judge also ordered him to spend nine months in the Milwaukee County Community Reintegration Center.
In May, Thomas admitted guilt to two charges pressed against him – hit-and-run causing great bodily harm and operating a vehicle while knowingly revoked.
Marvin Thomas has reportedly confessed to driving with a revoked license at the time, according to prosecutors.
Case details
Last September, a 30-year-old pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident that occurred at Brady and Warren. The victim suffered from a lacerated liver, broken ribs, and a broken wrist and was immediately transported to the hospital for medical attention. According to a criminal complaint, the victim was discovered approximately 30 feet away from the designated crosswalk.
MPD announced they were on the lookout for a silver SUV over a week after the hit-and-run incident. According to the complaint, the victim was hit by the vehicle and was driven over, as seen in the video footage. The police then traced the registration number of the SUV and proceeded to the address linked to it.
According to the complaint, the SUV was discovered by the police along with its registered owner and Thomas, who admitted to driving it on the night of the hit-and-run incident. He also confirmed that he had the keys to the SUV the entire time and that no one else had driven it that night.
According to the complaint, Thomas expressed remorse when presented with surveillance footage of the hit-and-run incident. He acknowledged that he was driving without a valid driver’s license at the time.
