Wisconsin National Guard and Staats to be deployed to Asia and Africa

A familiar face will be among the more than 300 Wisconsin National Guard soldiers who are scheduled to be deployed this weekend. Today, Egg Harbor Assistant Fire Chief Jason Staats took part in a send-off ceremony at Volk Field Air National Guard Base in Camp Douglas, Wis.

The soldiers being deployed are from various units, including the 1st Battalion, 128th Infantry Regiment, the 1st Battalion, 120th Field Artillery Regiment, the 132nd Brigade Support Battalion, and the 457th Chemical Company, according to the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs.

During their year-long deployment, these soldiers will provide medical care capabilities and participate in tactical missions to support the U.S. Central Command in Southwest Asia and the U.S. Africa Command in the Horn of Africa. Staats, who has been with the Wisconsin National Guard for about 15 years, previously served in Afghanistan in 2019.
