Maurice Jackson, a 16-year-old student, tragically lost his life in September while walking home from Dunbar High School. Despite the devastating incident, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia has confirmed that they will not be pursuing charges in this particular case.
Brittney Malloy, Jackson’s mother, vividly remembers the moment when she watched the video of the shooting.
During the shooting incident, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reported that Maurice was strolling near the intersection of New Jersey Avenue and P Street in Northwest. As he engaged in conversation with a different group, an unidentified suspect suddenly brandished a firearm and fired several rounds.
District Dogs has been instructed to enhance its emergency response process following a devastating flood in 2023, as indicated by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG).
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia was contacted by 7News for a comment on the charges in this case. In response, they issued the following statement:
“He had aspirations of becoming an entrepreneur and had plans to open his own business,” shared Malloy. “His smile was radiant and could brighten up any room. He held a deep affection for his friends and cherished his family.”
Maurice, at the age of 16, had just entered his teenage years.
“He had such a kind heart, a truly good heart,” Malloy expressed with a hint of sorrow. “I deeply miss my beloved child.”
