As Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 storm, neared the Florida Panhandle, several Republican senators and representatives chose to vote against providing additional aid for disaster relief. This occurred during the passage of a government funding extension, which had been approved by both houses of Congress.

Several lawmakers who voted against providing additional funding to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) come from states severely affected by Hurricane Helene.
