According to Treene, Melania Trump has always been a target for Donald Trump’s criticism. Her decision to not only endorse Kamala Harris but also campaign alongside her in Wisconsin is certainly unsettling for Donald Trump.
Liz Cheney, a former Trump supporter, underwent a significant transformation following his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. This transformation led her to become a fierce critic of the former president.
As a result, she was selected by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to serve on the January 6 Select Committee, along with fellow Republican Adam Kinzinger (R-IL). It is noteworthy that Kinzinger, who has also endorsed Harris, even had the opportunity to speak at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
Treene highlighted that Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, responded to Liz Cheney’s endorsement by referring to an old tweet. In that tweet, Leavitt criticized Harris for her “radical leftist views” and claimed that she had a voting record that was more liberal than both Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
