The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced that the next Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment will be released in less than 24 hours. All SSI recipients will receive their payments on the same day, though the amount will differ depending on individual circumstances.
Average SSI Payments for October
In October, the average SSI payment for individuals aged 18-64 will be around $744. While this is a substantial amount, it isn’t the highest among the age groups that receive SSI benefits.
Children under 18 receive the highest average payment, at approximately $820. Supplemental Security Income is a vital resource for families with eligible children, offering crucial financial support.
For those aged 65 and older, the average payment is about $575. This lower figure is largely because many seniors also receive Social Security retirement benefits, which can reduce their SSI payments. The maximum SSI benefit is capped at $943 for individuals and $1,415 for married couples.
October Payment Date
All SSI beneficiaries will receive their payments on the same day, streamlining the process compared to Social Security payments, which vary by recipient. The October payment is scheduled for October 1, 2024. Typically, SSI payments are issued on the first day of the month, unless that day falls on a weekend or holiday.
If you qualify for the October 1 payment and continue to meet eligibility requirements, future payments will follow this schedule:
- November 1, 2024
- November 29, 2024 (December’s payment)
- December 31, 2024 (January 2025’s payment)
