Governor JB Pritzker is currently spearheading a trade mission to Japan in an effort to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
“When I assumed the role of Governor, I made a commitment to be the most effective Chief Marketing Officer for our state, promoting Illinois as the ultimate destination to live, work, and conduct business,” expressed Governor JB Pritzker.
“Throughout the upcoming week, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to engage with both local and international leaders in Japan, showcasing the remarkable achievements and ambitious objectives of our state across various sectors, including education, clean energy, manufacturing, and business.”
During the trip, the focus will be on promoting Illinois and its locally made products. The Governor’s office has reported a significant increase of nearly 32 percent in exports from Illinois to Japan since 2019.
The governor will also use the trip to attract more businesses to come to Illinois. The state is investing heavily in emerging sectors such as quantum computing, electric vehicle manufacturing, and data center construction. This trip is part of Governor Pritzker’s ongoing efforts to promote these exciting opportunities.
The governor has teamed up with a group of around 50 state leaders, business executives, and education experts.
