Mark Zuckerberg Overtakes Jeff Bezos as World’s Second-Richest Person

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has surpassed Jeff Bezos to become the world’s second-richest person, with a fortune of approximately $211 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

This remarkable rise is attributed to Meta’s strong stock performance, which surged by 72% in 2024, with shares closing at an all-time high of $595.94.

Zuckerberg’s wealth increase of $78.1 billion this year has propelled him ahead of Bezos, whose net worth is estimated at $209 billion, and Bernard Arnault, valued at $193 billion.

Meta’s diverse portfolio, which includes Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads, has been a driving force behind this growth.

Additionally, Zuckerberg recently emphasized Meta’s advancements in AI, revealing that its platform currently has around 500 million monthly users and is projected to become the world’s most-used AI platform, particularly with an upcoming launch in the European Union.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk remains the world’s richest person with a net worth of $263 billion, up $33.8 billion from last year.

Along with Zuckerberg and Bezos, Musk is one of only three individuals with fortunes exceeding $200 billion. Oracle founder Larry Ellison ranks fifth with a fortune of $183 billion, reflecting a $59.6 billion increase over the past year.

This rapid accumulation of wealth among tech giants highlights the continued dominance of the tech sector, especially with innovations in AI and digital platforms driving significant financial growth.
