Trump making gains in polls to secure victory in traditionally Democratic states, while Harris loses momentum in polling

In Pennsylvania, she is leading the former president, although state analysts have suggested that she may lose if she doesn’t choose its governor, Josh Shapiro, as her running mate. According to Quinnipiac’s survey, she is currently ahead with 49% to 46% in Pennsylvania.

These three states are included in the “Blue Wall” – states that consistently voted for Democrats from 1992 until the Trump era. However, Trump managed to win all three of them in the 2016 election.

When it comes to abortion, it’s not surprising that her strongest point lies here. According to Quinnipiac, voters in all three states trust her over Trump when it comes to reproductive health and freedom, with double-digit margins.

It is crucial for both candidates to take into account another significant factor: indications that Harris may have a higher potential than what her current numbers reveal.

Despite trailing behind her Republican opponent in Michigan and Wisconsin, Democrats are currently leading in the Senate race in Wisconsin and are tied in Michigan. This suggests that the vice president’s performance is slightly below that of her party’s senatorial nominee by just one point.

With the race nearing its end, the polls indicate that it might be the right moment for Harris to distance herself even further from her previous running mate, Joe Biden, on topics where he also lagged behind former President Trump in polling.

She has already taken steps in that direction regarding the economy, introducing several proposals (such as expanding small-business and first-time homebuyer tax credits) that were not originally included in Biden’s 2024 re-election platform.

Despite consistently trailing his opponent in fundraising and a debate performance that was widely seen as a victory for Harris, it is becoming increasingly evident that Donald Trump has a strong chance of winning the 2024 election.

On Wednesday, another poll brought good news for Harris and the GOP rivals of Trump.

According to a survey conducted by The Bulwark, a Democratic strategy outfit, it seems that Donald Trump is only able to win over a small percentage of Republican voters who supported his main rival, Nikki Haley, in the recent GOP presidential primary. The survey reveals that Trump secured the votes of 46% of these Republicans, while 36% chose to back Harris.
