We have an active upper level low pressure system making its way through the Great Lakes region, bringing with it a final surge of cool to cold air.
As this system advances, we are seeing the development of strong to severe thunderstorms across certain areas of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The radar has detected strong winds and potential rotation in some of these storms as they move eastward and approach Lake Michigan along the Wisconsin shoreline.
As a result, the National Weather Service has issued Special Marine Warnings for the possibility of waterspout activity in the area. These sudden and powerful winds can cause rough water conditions and even waterspouts, posing a risk of damage or capsizing to vessels without warning.
Expect to experience heavy showers and thunderstorms on land, with the possibility of these storms reaching lower Michigan if they manage to cross the lake. Prepare for strong winds, small hail, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. Additionally, be aware of the ongoing lake hazards, including the risk of waterspouts.
The National Weather Service has issued a Special Marine Warning for the Milwaukee, WI area.
