Anticipated freeze/frost during Tuesday night

Our area can expect the first fall frost/freeze on Tuesday night as the skies clear from any cloud cover and the gusty winds we’ve been experiencing the last few days subside.

A Freeze Warning has been issued for the northwest Illinois counties of Stephenson, Jo Daviess, Carroll, and Whiteside. Meanwhile, a Freeze Watch is currently in place for Green and Rock counties in southern Wisconsin, as well as Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Lee, McHenry, and DeKalb counties. These alerts will take effect on Tuesday night and last until Wednesday morning.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 30s for most areas on Monday night. However, the presence of a gusty northwest wind and cloud cover will likely prevent widespread frost. While there may be some patchy frost in areas where the skies clear, it is not anticipated to be widespread.
