In a recent poll, Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin has found herself trailing behind her Republican opponent, Eric Hovde, for the first time.
In less than three weeks, on November 5, voters will have the opportunity to choose the next president of the United States and determine the composition of the Senate.
Among the candidates competing for a seat in Wisconsin, a key swing state alongside Michigan and Pennsylvania, are Baldwin and Hovde. Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are dedicating their efforts to secure victory in these pivotal states.
According to a recent internal polling memo from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Hovde, who is running on a platform of “restoring the American dream,” currently holds a one-point lead over Baldwin in a head-to-head ballot.
According to a leaked memo published by Politico on Tuesday, the Republican candidate secured 48 percent of the support, while Baldwin, who has been serving as one of Wisconsin’s state senators since 2013, garnered 47 percent.
According to a statement from NRSC executive director Jason Thielman, this is the first time Hovde has taken the lead in our internal polling.
Hovde and Baldwin were deadlocked at 46 percent in a ballot that featured third-party candidates.
According to Thielman, Hovde has a golden chance to further his progress and gather more support, all while highlighting Baldwin’s weaknesses and diminishing her position on the ballot.
I reached out to the NRSC through an online contact form to gather more information about their polling methodology. I specifically asked about their sample size, margin of error, and any additional details they could provide.
According to a statement made by Hovde’s spokesperson, Zach Bannon, to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel last week, Eric believes that this race is highly competitive, with the momentum clearly in his favor. Internal polls indicate that it is a close race, with a margin of only one to two points.
The poll surveyed approximately 800 likely voters, with a margin of error of +/- 3.46 percentage points.
According to a recent poll by Emerson College, Baldwin’s support has increased to 50 percent, surpassing Hovde who remains at 46 percent. This indicates a 1 percent gain for Baldwin since September.
The survey was conducted from October 5th to 8th, during which 1,000 likely voters were interviewed. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.
“I have personally reviewed my internal polls,” Baldwin revealed to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
