Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro expressed deep concern over Elon Musk’s recent announcement to offer $1 million to registered voters who sign his super PAC’s petition. He believes that this initiative should be thoroughly investigated by law enforcement authorities.
“I believe there are legitimate concerns regarding his expenditure in this campaign and the questionable flow of dark money, not only in Pennsylvania but also apparently into the hands of Pennsylvanians,” Shapiro expressed during an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker on Meet the Press. “This is a matter of great concern.”
Governor Tom Wolf expressed his belief that law enforcement should thoroughly examine the matter. He acknowledged the shift in his role from being the attorney general of Pennsylvania to becoming the governor, but he emphasized the significance of addressing the serious questions raised.
Elon Musk recently made a significant announcement, revealing his plan to give away $1 million per day, randomly selected, until the upcoming November 5 election. The lucky recipient of this daily prize will be an individual who has shown support for his PAC’s petition advocating for the preservation of the First Amendment, safeguarding freedom of speech, as well as the Second Amendment, which upholds the right to “keep and bear arms.”
Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of Tesla and Space X, as well as the owner of X, has shown unwavering support for Republican Donald Trump’s campaign for the White House. In fact, he has already pledged a staggering amount of at least $70 million to assist the former president.
However, the giveaway has raised concerns among election experts who argue that it is illegal to tie a cash handout to signing a petition, especially when voter registration is also required.
According to Shapiro, Musk has every right to express his views and has been vocal about his support for Donald Trump.
Federal authorities’ investigation into the giveaway remains uncertain, as per NBC.
