On her 60th birthday, Harris made appearances at churches. During one of these visits, Wonder led the congregation in singing his version of “Happy Birthday” to the vice president. As Harris seemed to become emotional, Wonder offered comforting words, saying, “Don’t cry.” He also encouraged the crowd to exercise their right to vote.
“We have the power to bridge the gap between the past and the future,” the musician declared confidently.
In addition, Wonder took the lead in leading the congregation as they joyfully sang a verse of the popular hymn, “Higher Ground.”
Pastor Donald Battle confidently proclaimed that Georgia will be the state that turns it for the vice president while Harris made her appearance.
The Democratic nominee made a visit to New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Stonecrest, where the congregation also joined in singing “Happy Birthday.”
New Birth Pastor Jamal Bryant praised Harris as an “American hero” and “the voice of the future,” hailing her as “our fearless leader.”
During his sermon, Bryant noted how Harris has the potential to make history as the first woman to be elected as U.S. president. He emphasized the importance of a strong man supporting a capable woman in such a role. Bryant stated, “It takes a real man to support a real woman.”
“In this moment, throughout our country, there are individuals who seek to further divide us, spreading hate, instilling fear, and creating chaos,” Harris expressed to the congregation. “The true test of a leader’s strength lies in their ability to uplift others.”
After attending the church services, the congregants were transported to early polling locations by buses.
