Vice President Kamala Harris accused former President Donald Trump of prioritizing personal loyalty over the U.S. Constitution, suggesting that he sought a military that would be loyal to him.
In response to recent remarks made by John Kelly, former chief of staff to Donald Trump, she commented on the former president’s admiration for authoritarian leaders like Vladmir Putin and Viktor Orbán.
Kelly had stated that Trump sees himself as an authoritarian and has even praised the loyalty of German generals to Hitler during World War II.
Vice President Harris addressed the press conference from her official residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. This came just a day after Kelly accused Trump of being a “fascist.”
According to her, Trump continuously referred to his fellow Americans as the ‘enemy from within’ and even expressed his intention to employ the United States military against American citizens.
According to Harris, Trump views the “enemy from within” as anyone who refuses to submit or dares to voice criticism against him.
According to her, Trump made a promise to become a dictator right from the start and had plans to utilize the military as his own personal militia to carry out his personal and political vendettas.
Harris delivered a brief speech lasting approximately three minutes, after which she promptly exited the room without entertaining any questions.
In recent interviews published on Tuesday, General Kelly, a retired Marine General and former White House Chief of Staff, expressed his view that Trump can be characterized as fitting the “general definition of a fascist.”
According to Kelly, Trump has expressed admiration for the type of generals that Hitler had, even though it is worth noting that many of Hitler’s generals and military officers actually attempted to assassinate him, coming very close to succeeding in 1944.
In response to Kelly’s fabricated stories, Steven Cheung, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, criticized him, stating that he had “beclowned himself.” This remark was reported by NPR on Wednesday.
Cheung retaliated against Harris’ remarks, labeling her as a “stone-cold loser who is growing increasingly desperate due to her floundering campaign.”
