California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) brushed off a new moniker bestowed upon him by former President Trump, dismissing the Republican presidential nominee as “an embarrassment.”
During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki,” Governor Newsom discussed his experiences with President Trump, who often refers to him as “Newscum.”
“It’s quite amusing, really. I recall being referred to as ‘Newscum’ back when I was in seventh or eighth grade, and now, at 78 years old, the same nickname persists,” chuckled Newsom. “One could even describe the person behind this nickname as a man-child of sorts.”
“It’s such a disgrace,” he continued, clearly expressing his embarrassment.
Newsom continued by stating that he entered into a marriage with a family of Republicans. He emphasized that labeling and name-calling should not be seen as a partisan perspective. Furthermore, he highlighted his approach of not demeaning others, regardless of their political beliefs.
“I believe in treating everyone with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or beliefs. I never underestimate the value of engaging in meaningful conversations and building bridges within our communities. This is what being American is all about,” he expressed sincerely.
California Governor and Trump have been exchanging insults for years. Newsom has labeled the former president as “unhinged” and has openly supported Vice President Harris, stating that there is “no one better” than her to hold Trump accountable.
Steven Cheung, spokesperson for the Trump campaign, took a jab at Kamala Harris’s campaign while reiterating the nickname for Gavin Newsom in a statement to The Hill.
“It is unfortunate that Kamala Harris has to rely on individuals like Gavin Newsom, who Cheung refers to as ‘third-rate, scumbag losers’, to spread her falsehoods and manipulate the American public,” Cheung expressed. “Her campaign seems to be spiraling downwards, and she is heading towards a humiliating defeat that will be remembered and studied in history for many years to come.”
