A Former Kamala Harris Staff Member Suggests Joe Biden Step Down to Allow Her to Become the 47th President

Jamal Simmons, who previously served as the communications director for Kamala Harris, has put forward an unexpected proposition regarding the potential for Vice President Harris to assume the presidency in 2024. He suggests that this scenario could arise if Joe Biden were to step down from office.

During a discussion on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, panelists Scott Jennings, Ashley Allison, and Brad Todd were asked about their predictions for the next 71 days until President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. They highlighted two key areas of focus: the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza and Trump’s actions during the setup of his administration.

Simmons took a different approach, suggesting that Biden could potentially resign from the presidency within the next 30 days, effectively making Kamala Harris the President of the United States.

According to Simmons, Joe Biden has been an exceptional president who has consistently delivered on his promises. However, there is one promise that he has yet to fulfill, which is becoming a transitional figure. Biden has shown no indication that he would consider stepping down from his position before his term comes to an end.

According to Simmons, the decision would prevent Harris from having to witness “her own defeat” during the certification of the presidential election in the Senate.

He believes that this move would generate significant media coverage and help Democrats capture the public’s attention. It is worth noting that the vice president also assumes the role of Senate president and oversees the certification process for the presidential race.

Dana Bash, the host, remarked that the idea had transitioned from being an internet meme to becoming a topic of discussion on a Sunday morning show. Jokes have been made about Biden paving the way for Harris.

Jon Lovett, co-host of “Pod Save America” and former speechwriter for former President Barack Obama, humorously remarked that Kamala Harris’s loss meant that “Jimmy Carter has to stay alive for four more years now.”

Carter, who has been receiving hospice care for more than a year, expressed his determination to hold on until he could cast his vote for Harris.

According to Lovett, there is still a possibility that Jimmy Carter will witness the inauguration of a female president before his passing. However, this outcome is contingent upon Joe Biden accomplishing something remarkable.

Simmons emphasized the significance of the current moment, stating that it provides an opportunity to completely transform the way Democrats approach their work. There were some panel members who remained unconvinced.

It is highly unlikely that the unprecedented move will actually happen. “This is within Joe Biden’s grasp,” he continued. “It would fulfill his commitment to serving as a transitional president. It would provide Kamala Harris with the opportunity to become the 47th President of the United States of America.”

“It would completely disrupt all of Donald Trump’s merchandise,” he commented, alluding to the extensive range of Trump-branded products featuring the number “47.” “He would need to rebrand every single item.”
